Postmortem
I just want to say, this is my biggest game yet.
I learned a lot, from music, sound effects, enemy AI, NPC AI, dynamic cutscenes, panel slideshows, and more! As well as working on and getting better at my programming skills and art skills!
During development, there were a lot of errors, and I tried a lot of different types of systems to get things working. One example is the walking AI. Within Godot, I tried the navigation systems and the path finding systems. As well as trying just picking a random tile and walking towards that. In the end, I did none of those. It was difficult, but it was definitely worth it in the long-run, especially now that I know about those other techniques that I could use in future games!
I'd also like to mention, I juggled another game jam while doing this one. It was a smaller jam, but nevertheless, it took more than a day and a half time I could of spent on this game. Do I regret my choice of doing two jams? No! In the end, I learned from both games I created. The most important thing I learned was time management and learning to scope down my ideas.
Which by the way, I want to talk about the original idea for this game. One of my favorite games ever was this little mini game on the Mineplex Minecraft server called Sneaky Assassins. I wanted to take the idea of that and implement it into a game of my own! I was gonna do this type of game no matter the theme, I was just going to wiggle my way around the game concept to fit the theme and the idea into it.
Anyways, that is about all I have to say! I hope you enjoy the game! But if you don't, tell me why! And if you notice bugs or crashes, tell me! I want you to have the best experience possible!
